The Sweed Accu-Matic

email print PDF
Sweed’s Accu-Matic is an accumulator in the dryer infeed section and is necessary to keep a consistent flow of veneer feeding into the dryer.

A new design feature of the Sweed Accu-Matic includes an almost indestructible inner roll drive. The old design had an interference-type design, which meant the misalignment of a single proximity switch, or the operator forcing the hoist up too high in manual mode, could result in the swing arm assembly being crushed between the Accu-Matic frame and the incoming load. (One simple mistake, and the result was an expensive and time-consuming machine failure. Note: is this too harsh to say about our own equip?)

Sweed offers a completely redesigned drive assembly that totally eliminates this problem. The new design allows the entire arm assembly to rotate up and past the switch mount and idler sprocket frame. This means that even if there is an electrical malfunction or an operator override, the drive assembly will not be harmed. The drive assembly will simply swing up out of the way. This will give the operator time to correct the problem or call an electrician to repair or adjust the switch.
