Stats Can earnings echo survey

Dec. 6, 2016 - Recent earnings data from Statistics Canada show earnings trends in the forestry and logging sector that mirror those reported in Canadian Forest Industries’ 2016 Contractor Survey (see full survey report here).

Reporting average weekly earnings for the month of September 2016, Stats Can has earnings numbers for almost all the major forestry provinces. As the chart below shows, earnings are highest out west, followed by Ontario, New Brunswick and Quebec. The one outlier is Newfoundland, with earning stats likely skewed by one very large union operation in western Newfoundland. 




The Stats Can reports also indicate a slight increase in weekly earnings in most provinces between September 2015 and September 2016. See Stats Can earnings tables here.
