Williams & White
Williams & White’s latest addition, the Hammerhead 3000, is an all-in-one band saw processing centre designed to automatically tension and level a band saw with ease. The H3000 offers the quality and consistency the industry has been waiting for – which is why sawmills and saw manufacturers across the world have chosen the Hammerhead 3000 for their saw filing needs.

Iseli – Oleson Saw
Oleson Saw, a division of York Saw & Knife Co. Inc. and Iseli & Co. of Switzerland, have introduced the new BNA100 plasma stellite tipping machine and the BNF100 CNC 4-axis dual side grinding machine for the application and maintenance of stellite tipped bandsaw blades in the forest products industry. The new BNA100 is Iseli’s version of the former Vollmer GPA200. Building on the success of the GPA200 platform, Iseli has kept the mechanics of the machine while adding their own upgraded controller. Fast and reliable parts and service for Iseli machines is supplied by Oleson Saw from either their York, Pa. or Post Falls, Idaho, locations.

Key Knife
Key Knife developed HY2 SPIRAL chipping heads to aid mills in their effort to increase canter feed rates to unprecedented levels, some in excess of 900 fpm. HY2 SPIRAL heads utilize a spiral knife configuration that produces a smooth cutting action, resulting in excellent board finish and chip quality. The long-lasting Ridge XL Knife is rehonable, in many cases multiple times, which significantly reduces knife costs. Consumable parts are standardized to allow for part rotation, and to keep inventory costs low.

DK-Spec
The DK-Spec Filex MK2nx is a multifunctional knife grinder that features either soft touch display or physical buttons, a new wireless remote control handle for easy set-up, a grind LV side head, straight knife cutterhead and finger jointing head. Possible robotic loading for high volume grinding of a straight knife is also available. Users can access troubleshooting and update options remotely via a private VPN. It also comes with full internal Ethercat OMRON servo-drives or HMI network and fully updatable HMI and PLC software. Saw-ADD
Round Saw-ADD measures the sawing and guide friction radial forces outside the sawbox through the arbor. These forces are detected a half-second earlier than motor current enabling reduction of peak stresses on saws allowing them to last longer. Round Saw-ADD requires little to no maintenance and increases your throughput as much as 18 per cent with better quality lumber and no saw wrecks. It can be retrofitted to most machines. Band Saw-ADD integrates force sensors into the lower guide block holder and measures the lateral forces on the saw blade for increases up to eight per cent with little to no maintenance.

Supersaul Chemmex
Supersaul Chemmex has developed a practical and efficient way to reduce sawing consumables for guided saw systems. The company decided to explore implementing its lube technologies in hardware in a practical and effective way. Users familiar with Supersaul’s guide lube are aware of the benefits. These benefits can now be enjoyed regardless of a saw filer’s preferred lubricant. The new hardware has design efficiencies built into it that not only save on daily and monthly consumables but also provide excellent sawing performance improvements. Saw box consumable savings are looking to be a minimum of a 25 per cent reduction.

Vollmer
The grinding machine Vollmer CHX 840 HS for carbide-tipped circular saw blades with a diameter up to 840 mm (33 inches) machines tooth faces and tops in a single clamping process to reduce set-up time thanks to a double grinding wheel. With five CNC-controlled axes, the CHX 840 can machine saw blades with all common tooth geometries. The HS automation solution ensures automatic loading of the CHX for unmanned operation of up to seven hours.

This machine is ideal for sawmill operators, sharpening specialists and furniture makers. Now available for demos at Vollmer’s brand-new showroom and training facility in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Iseli – Thode
Programming tooth shapes is still a major challenge for many customers. The Iseli Tooth Tracing System (TTS) can help. The tooth shape of the saw you desire to be emulated can be probed automatically by an acoustic sensor and saved as the tooth shape of your choice. The data obtained is then used for sharpening in the recipe. Parameters such as tooth profile, hook and back angles, tooth height, variable pitch and depths, etc., are automatically determined and saved by the program. This process enables the exact reproduction of existing tooth shapes directly on the machine without a great effort.
