Abundant supply drives lumber prices down further: Madison’s

The lumber market remained unbalanced, with consistent reports of oversupply in most species and categories.
In the week ending June 28, the price of Western S-P-F 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$346 mfbm. This is down $10, or three per cent from the previous week when it was $356. That week’s price is down $37, or 10 per cent from one month ago when it was $383 mfbm.
Compared to the same week last year when it was $436 mfbm, that week’s price is down $90, or 21 per cent. Compared to two years ago when it was $630, that week’s price is down $284, or 45 per cent.
In the week ending June 28, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was $345 mfbm. This is down $10, or three per cent from the previous week when it was $355 mfbm. That week’s price is down $7, or two per cent from one month ago when it was $352 mfbm.
Compared to the same week last year when it was $405 mfbm, that week’s price is down $60, or 15 per cent. Compared to two years ago when it was $670, that week’s price is down by $325, or 49 per cent.Â
