AFPA sees Q3 industry growth

The forest products industry in Alberta continues to see growth, as the value of manufactured products in the province rose in the third quarter of 2012.

November 26, 2012  By  John Tenpenny

Values of lumber, panelboard, and pulp and paper manufactured by Alberta Forest Products Association member companies totaled approximately $615 million for the third quarter of 2012. The value of production was up $66 million or 12% from the same period last year and increased roughly $33 million or 6% from the second quarter of 2012.

“These numbers are great news for communities in Alberta that depend on the forest industry,” said AFPA President and CEO Brady Whittaker. “The industry is in a healthy and sustainable position. This means that we can employ Albertans, spend money at local businesses, and support community initiatives.”
