B.C. invests $150 million to promote lumber

Sept. 2, 2016 - The Province of British Columbia has earmarked $150 million to promote B.C. lumber in advance of the Oct. 12 deadline for Canada and the U.S. to reach a softwood lumber deal.
Steve Thomson, minister of forests, lands and natural resource operations, says the softwood agreement is critical to the province’s forest sector, but that the $150-million investment is not contingent on a trade deal being reached.
