BC invests $5M to help community forests complete wildfire risk reduction projects
April 1, 2021 By Ellen Cools
The government of B.C. today announced more than $5 million in funding to help Community Forest Agreement holders complete wildfire risk reduction projects.
The money will be allocated through the BC Community Forest Association to 15 community forest agreement holders, to fund 44 wildfire risk reduction projects.
“It’s a priority for our government to do everything we can to keep people safe from the threat of wildfires,” said Katrine Conroy, B.C. minister of forests, lands, natural resource operations and rural development, in a press release. “This money will help recipients reduce those risks and also support local employment opportunities.”
