B.C. softwood exports to China fall
Feb. 12, 2015 – Exports of B.C. lumber to China have fallen for the first time in nearly a decade in 2014.
According to a report from The Canadian Press, over 7.5 million cubic metres of softwood lumber valued at $1.4 billion was exported to China from B.C. in 2014. That represents a five per cent decrease versus 2013, when B.C. shipped approximately 7.9 million metres to China.
U.S. exports to China continued to grow, with 14.5 million cubic metres shipped to China at a value of around $3 billion. That represents a 6.4 per cent increase over 2013.
