BC wildfires to have lingering effects for forest industry
Sept. 7, 2017 - B.C.'s government is looking to support logging companies that have been affected by the historic wildfire season in the province, Forest Minister Doug Donaldson told media.

The wildfire has consumed an estimated 53 million cubic metres of timber, which will have lingering implications for the logging industry, Donaldson told The Canadian Press.
“We know there is going to be an extremely high need for reforestation and that’s been planned right now through my ministry in order to ensure that we do have the timber supply in the future,” he said. “But there is no question that there’s going to be an impact from that much timber being burned in the province.”
