Canfor completes purchase of Millar Western’s solid-wood operations

Canfor Corporation has completed its purchase of Millar Western Forest Products‘ solid wood operations and forest tenure in Alberta.

The $420-million deal involves 630 million board feet of lumber production capacity from two sawmills as well as a value-added specialty wood products facility and a 440,667-hectare forest management agreement area.

“We are very excited to welcome the employees at the Whitecourt, Fox Creek and Spruceland facilities to the Canfor team,” said Canfor CEO Don Kayne. “The additional manufacturing capacity in Alberta positions Canfor well to meet the growing demand of our customers for high-quality, sustainable wood products.”
