
Peter Bentley, Canfor’s leader for over 30 years, died peacefully in his sleep on Sept. 6, 2021 at the age of 91.
According to an obituary from The Globe & Mail, Peter, his father and uncle helped grow Canfor over the years, and he was always committed to the safety of his employees.
Peter was also a member of several company boards, including Shell Canada, the Bank of Montreal, and others. He served as Chancellor of the University of Northern British Columbia, and founded the Vancouver General Hospital Foundation in 1980, which after merged to become the VGH/UBC Hospital Foundation.
