Contractor dies while working on Irving land

Jan. 9, 2019 – An independent contractor died in a single-vehicle accident last week while working on land owned by J.D. Irving Ltd. in New Brunswick.

The Canadian Press reports that the worker’s logging truck left the road about 40 kilometres from Saint-Leonard and the Veneer sawmill on the evening of Jan. 2.

Mary Keith, spokesperson for J.D. Irving, told The Canadian Press that the contractor, whose name has not been released, died from his injuries incurred in the accident.

Irving with working with authorities and WorkSafeNB on a full investigation.
