Dry weather sparks forest fire concerns in NWT
Jan. 3, 2017 - Early weather data for the North Slave region of the Northwest Territories shows 2016 was the fourth year of below-average precipitation and high temperatures. The data points to high risk of forest fires in 2017.
Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologist Brian Proctor told CBC he expects the dry weather to continue in January, but that the severity of the fire season will depend on snowfall in the next few months.
