Errington Cedar Products sawmill closes on Vancouver Island

Family-owned cedar sawmill Errington Cedar Products has closed its doors after nearly 30 years in the central Vancouver Island community of Errington, B.C.

Nearly 60 people lost their jobs when the sawmill underwent foreclosure in October, according to CTV News.

The mill ran mostly western red cedar and yellow cedar, some hemlock and balsam, producing specialty timbers, posts and beams, as well as standard sizes and cut stock. They exported to North America, Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
