The 30th annual Trenton Woodlot Conference will take place on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Batawa Community Centre in Batawa, Ont.

This year’s theme is Returning to our Roots with a focus on traditional knowledge and practical forestry. There will be stimulating speakers in the morning and afternoon, and an optional field trip to a diverse woodlot area in the afternoon. The large exhibitors’ area is a central focus of the conference, providing the opportunity to feature conservation efforts in our communities, as well as products and services. A hot lunch with locally sourced food (and minimal waste) will be served.

Keynote presentations at the conference include:

  • Sebastian Belliard, Soil Specialist with OMAFRA: What’s Under the Leaf Litter
  • Thom Snowman, Arborist: The Inclusive Forest: Wetlands, Water, Wildlife and Wood

Afternoon presentations include:

  • Beavers: Struggles with Co-existence
  • Technology in the Woodlot: Creating Your Biodiversity Inventory (Bird Studies Canada)
  • Chainsaw Safety Basics
