March 9, 2021  By  Ellen Cools

The government of Canada has announced it will invest $648,250 for Fast + App, a structural engineering firm, to construct their new head office, a four-storey hybrid mass timber and steel building.

“This project is an excellent example of an innovative, sustainable and high-performance wood building. It showcases technologically advanced wood products and systems, and how mass timber components work together for optimal designs that can be easily replicated. Projects such as this will address today’s urgent demand for more efficient construction using sustainable building materials, toward a goal of carbon-neutral structures that will positively transform our built environment,” said Lynn Embury-Williams, executive director of Wood WORKS! BC.

The funds will come from Natural Resources Canada’s Green Construction through Wood program.
