Fibre shortage forces downtime at Skeena Sawmills’ Terrace mill

November 25, 2021  By CFI staff

Skeena Sawmills’ Terrace, B.C., mill is idling for the week after running out of log inventory.

Company president Roger Keery told The Northern View that many factors led to the fibre shortage, including extreme weather over the year and COVID-19 hiring challenges.

“Going back to the second quarter of 2021, we have never been able to build an adequate log inventory to maintain production through these interruptions,” Keery told the newspaper.

The mill plans to start up again next week.
