First Nations’ land claim names NB forestry companies among defendants

A land claim filed in court by the Wolastoqey First Nation asking for confirmation on Aboriginal title to more than five million hectares of land in New Brunswick has named six companies among the defendants.
Those companies include J.D. Irving, NB Power, Acadian Timber, Twin Rivers Paper, HJ Crabbe and Sons and A.V. Group, according to a report in the Toronto Star.
New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs has said the claim would impact the province’s entire economy.
