Forestry products in the bag
Aug. 28, 2013 - The Canadian paper packaging industry's environmental council, PPEC, is on the defensive about the use of paper bags. It has launched a new website to clarify facts from fiction on the environmental impacts of brown bagging it.
"Paper bags in Canada are made from a renewable resource," states the website on its home page. "They are also widely recyclable and compostable. And unlike almost all other Canadian products, most of the energy to make paper bags is supplied by renewable biomass. The industry also replants far more trees than it uses itself."
