Galloway Lumber sold to new owner

May 17, 2019  By  Ellen Cools

Brian Fehr is the new owner of Galloway, B.C.-based Galloway Lumber, which the Nelson family owned and operated for 75 years.

According to the Cranbook Daily Townsman, the sale was official as of April 1, 2019. When Fehr took ownership, the plant had 25 out of 44 employees working, and plans had been made to retool the mill into a fabricating shop, sawmill and cross laminated timber plant.

With the change in ownership, all but a few employees were laid off. The Cranbrook Daily Townsman reports that there are plans to call back more employees over the next couple months, with the possibility of 80 employees working in the next couple of years.
