BC logging tax update

Nov. 10, 2014 - Administrative changes have been introduced to the B.C. logging tax system that will be applicable to those selling logs (including on the stump).

New online services

Individuals and businesses involved in logging operations in BC will be able to enroll to access a new online system called eTaxBC. eTaxBC allows taxpayers to access and update their account information, correspond securely with administrators, file tax returns and pay tax online.

The provincial government's website will be updated to include information on eTaxBC. This information will explain how to enrol for access to eTaxBC and set up an account online.

New tax returns

We have revised the following tax returns:
· Logging Tax Return of Income (FIN 542S)
· Logging Tax Return of Income for Processors (FIN 542P)

These revised returns will be available December 8, 2014 online at gov.bc.ca/incometaxes (go to Logging Tax and click on Forms and Publications)

New tax account numbers

As part of the system update, the system will automatically assign a new account number to all existing logging tax accounts. After December 8, 2014, administrators will send a letter to all existing logging tax account holders to advise them of their new tax account numbers and how to enrol in eTaxBC.
