New Truck Weight sensors

July 2, 2013, Halifax, N.S – Truck Weight has introduced a new wireless sensor for mechanical suspension systems that provides off-road and severe service fleets with a low-cost and is simple-to-install.

With no modifications required, the new sensors may be easily installed on tandem spring, single point, camelback, walking beam, and Chalmers suspension systems.

When used with Truck Weight’s Smart Scale onboard scales, the sensors have been tested to be accurate within a range of one to two per cent.

According to Truck Weight, the new sensors cost roughly 75 per cent less than traditional, hardwired onboard scale load-cell systems, while installation time takes about one to two hours.

Peter Panagapko, president of Truck Weight said that the new sensors are significantly less expensive to maintain in the event of a failure, with the cost of a replacement Truck Weight sensor priced at roughly $80. Traditional replacement load-cell sensors are priced in excess of $1000. He added that Truck Weight sensors only require one hour to replace, while competitive sensors may take up to eight hours to replace.

Providing reliable off-road and uneven ground performance, the sensors allow for an accurate way for fleets to meet payload targets, maximize load efficiencies, and help eliminate overweight violations for a variety of applications for Class 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 commercial trucks and tractor-trailer combinations.
