Report released for improving forest management

May 5, 2015 - The forest industry is changing, and with more forest cover than almost any other country, how Canada keeps pace is a global concern.

A new report by the Public Policy Forum identifies the need for greater collaboration among sectors to help improve the forest industry for generations to come.

#FutureofForestry: Sustainable Solutions, developed in partnership with the Forest Products Association of Canada and Natural Resources Canada, explores new technologies, markets and practices that are impacting our environment and economy.

“In an era of limited resources, the policy challenges are daunting,” says David Mitchell, president and CEO of Canada's Public Policy Forum. “By engaging diverse leaders who see the industry from different perspectives, it's our aim to help guide solutions that reflect our responsibility to Canadians and to the world.”

The report synthesizes the findings from a policy dialogue convened by the Public Policy Forum and project partners that brought together corporate, environmental and First Nations leaders, academics and policymakers from across Canada. This culminated in the recommendations concluded in the report.

The Public Policy Forum is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of government in Canada through enhanced dialogue among the public, private, academic and nonprofit sectors.
