Forestry degree guarantees a job

Sept. 8, 2014 – A recent survey of salaries and employment levels among university grads has ranked forestry grads as highly employable compared to other degrees, according to the Globe and Mail. Though forestry students have ranked in the middle of the chart as far as salaries go, they have a 100 per cent employment rate.

Six months after graduation, forestry grads make an average of $37,941 – below the new grad average of $42,636. But after two years under their belts, salaries jump to $55,000 and placing them comfortably ahead of the average salary after two years in the field, which is $49,398.

The best news for industry grads, however, is that within two years of graduation, everyone who completed the degree had a job, according to the survey's findings. Most students had landed jobs within the first six months of graduation (95.7 per cent).
