Interfor purchases four U.S. sawmills

Dec. 19, 2014 – Interfor Corp. has reached an agreement to purchase four U.S. southeast sawmills from Simpson Lumber Co.

According to a report from The Daily News Online, the deal is worth a reported $94.7 million USD.

The millspurchased include three Georgia-based mills in Longview, Commencement Bay and Meldrim, as well as a mill in Georgetown, S.C. The acquisition increases the number of sawmills owned by Interfor to 18, and expands the company’s capacity to 3.1 billion board feet.

While the deal was announced this week, the acquisition will not be completed until the first quarter of 2015.
