Lakeland Mills inquest begins

March 3, 2015 – Four months after the Lakeland Mills sawmill in Prince George re-opened for business, the BC Coroners inquest into the fire that killed two workers and destroyed the former mill begins.

According to a report from CBC news, the inquest will attempt to determine the facts surrounding the cause for the fire and why two workers lost their lives in the blaze.

Crown counsel has stated that it does not believe that WorkSafeBC did not do its diligence to determine the extent of which mill management were aware of dust issues in the mill, and if any efforts were made to mitigate the risk of dust accumulation.
