Canada and U.S. move towards new SLA

March 10, 2016 - British Columbia Premier Christy Clark says she’s pleased that Canada and the U.S. are working to resolve the trade issues surrounding softwood lumber exports, according to a recent article by The Canadian Press.

The article states that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and U.S. President Barack Obama expect the two countries to come to an agreement on a new SLA before the expiration of the 12-month “standstill provision” that precludes the U.S. from bringing trade action against Canadian softwood lumber producers that kicked in this past October.
