B.C. set to welcome thousands of delegates

Sept. 8, 2016 - The forestry industry’s leading companies will soon congregate in Maple Ridge, B.C., for DEMO International, one of North America’s largest and most distinctive outdoor equipment shows. This unique event takes place in just over two weeks’ time, from Sept. 22 to 24, 2016.

The 2016 edition of the show is expected to attract a substantial international audience, with groups of visitors already registered from New Zealand, Australia, Finland, Brazil, United Arab Emirates, India, United States, United Kingdom, and France. These attendees will join thousands of Canadians, coming from coast to coast.

Visitor registration is now open for the 2016 edition of the show. For a limited time, visitors can pre-register for a one-day pass for $40 or a three-day pass for $60. Convenient online registration and full details are available on the show website: www.DemoInternational.com.

For the first time in a North American forestry show, a DEMO International smartphone app will be available for free download. Intended to help visitors get the most out of their show experience, the app will feature an interactive zoom-in map, pin locators to locate key exhibitors, complete exhibitor descriptions and contact information, directions, attractions in Vancouver, and more. The app is now available; search for DEMO International in the App Store or in Google Play.

A DEMO International Conference will take place in conjunction with and just prior to the trade show portion of the event. Entitled “Canada’s Forest Sector-Adapting to a New Reality: Technology and Innovation as a Catalyst for Success”, the conference is scheduled for Sept. 19-21, 2016 and will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Vancouver. The conference is co-hosted by the UBC Faculty of Forestry and the Canadian Woodlands Forum, in association with FPInnovations, the Council on Forest Engineering, and the Canadian Institute of Forestry. A variety of exciting tours and social functions are being planned both before and after the conference.

DEMO International is an “all live and in action, in-woods” equipment show, which features the latest technologies in equipment, products and services covering all aspects of woodlands operations. It is the flagship event of the Canadian Woodlands Forum and takes place every four years in a different location. It is returning to the west coast for the first time in 16 years, and will be hosted by the Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia.

The show’s 2016 edition will include 150 exhibitors positioned around a 3.2 kilometre loop of roadway specially built for the show. The site plan includes a mix of static sites as well as 20 active sites featuring working machinery and live demos.
