Former birch reserve to be left untouched by commercial harvesting

Nov. 22, 2016 - The Newfoundland and Labrador government's decision to not harvest a group of birch trees in a former reserve has left cabin owners relieved, according to a CBC report.

The possiblility of the birch trees being cut down was part of the province's five-year management plan.

"All these people have a stake in it, and to be included, that would be very important," Dennis Lannon, a nearby cabin owner, told the CBC.
