In a news release on Nov. 30, Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs confirmed that a new agreement has been signed that will “support good, middle class jobs in Canada, strengthen economic ties between the three countries, and contribute to North America’s global competitiveness.”

Although ceremonial in nature, the event signaled the beginning of the ratification process, which is needed to move the three countries toward a final agreement. FPAC applauds the Canadian government’s efforts to support economic certainty and prosperity. CEO Derek Nighbor also noted that, “A new agreement between Canada, the U.S. and Mexico will help protect and enhance the over 230,000 direct jobs the forest sector contributes to over 600 communities across the country.”
