“We are very excited about this agreement, as it allows both FPInnovations and the CMIC to tap into a broader network of ideas and innovators from another segment of the natural resources sector,” said Pierre Lapointe, president and CEO of FPInnovations. “This MoU exemplifies how innovative research and technologies can fuse industries together and unite them as leaders in responsible natural resource development and innovation.”

This three-year agreement, which took effect on June 9 of this year, includes facilitating exchanges to increase knowledge, establishing a common approach for a natural resources innovation strategy, and evaluating options to facilitate access to new technologies suitable to their industry.

“We are very pleased to be partnering with FPInnovations to promote cooperative relations and exchanges, and work together to advance our individual industries and Canada’s natural resources sector as a whole,” said Carl Weatherell, Executive Director and CEO of CMIC. “This agreement is an example of collaborative innovation for the greater benefit of our respective members and stakeholders alike.”

The accord specifically aims to create synergy in the area of natural resources through innovation, and to establish collaborative projects beneficial to both the Canadian mining and forest industries.
