Ontario passes cap and trade climate change bill

May 19, 2016 - The Ontario government has passed legislation to battle climate change in the form of a cap and trade system, according to a recent article by The Canadian Press.

The article states that the provincial government believes its cap and trade system will “add $5 a month to home heating bills and 4.3 cents to the price of a litre of gasoline,” and plans on auctioning off pollution credits generated to raise $1.9 billion annually that would then be used to “help people and companies transition to a low carbon economy.”
