Steady rise in Ontario lumber production

June 3, 2016 – A six per cent increase in lumber production in Ontario sawmills provides a strong sign of recovery for the province’s wood industry.

StatsCan announced the increase year-over-year for March, steadied by an uptick in production in Northern Ontario mills.

According to a CBC News article, the re-opening of EACOM Timber’s mill in Ear Falls, which brought 145 jobs back to the small community north of Dryden, has been a key component in the increased production in the north of the province. The recent re-opening of Kenora Forest Products by Prendiville Industries should help continue the upward trend.
