June 13, 2016 – A public discussion is being held to determine the future of the forest industry in Grand-Falls Windsor.

According to a report from the Lewisporte Pilot, the small town in central Newfoundland has seen the industry fall dormant since the community pulp and paper mill shut down seven years ago. But with the help of a provincial government grant, the community is investigating how best to bring forestry back to the town.

With support from the Forestry and Agrifoods Agency and the Centre for Forest Science and Innovation, a Forest Diversification Strategy is being built for the community, one that will benefit both the town and the region.

The public discussion is being held on the evening of Wednesday, June 15th.
