Three log hauling-related fatalities reported

January 22, 2016 - According to WorkSafeBC’s most recent work-related incident report, three people were killed in separate log hauling incidents this past December.

The first incident took place in the lower mainland when a loaded log transporter failed to navigate a sharp corner on a highway, causing the truck and trailer to be flipped onto the driver's side, fatally injuring the driver.

The second incident occurred when a passenger vehicle and an empty logging truck and trailer collided in northern B.C., fatally injuring the diver of the passenger vehicle. The driver of the logging truck was not injured.

The third fatal accident also took place in northern B.C. during poor winter road conditions, when a loaded logging truck and a worker vehicle (car) collided head-on at a corner on a highway. The driver of the car was fatally injured and a worker who was a passenger in the car was injured. The driver of the logging truck was not injured.
