Single-family builders feeling good

Nov. 5, 2014 - Optimism in the U.S. stems from growing economy, low mortgage rates and pent-up demand with expectations that the single-family homebuilding sector will finish out the year much stronger than it began.

NAHB is forecasting 991,000 total housing strarts in 2014, which is up 6.6 per cent from 930,000 units last year. By 2016, single-family homebuilding is expected to be closer to normal levels around 1.1 million.

Steady job growth in the U.S. bodes well for the recovery – the country is adding around 2.75 million jobs per year.
