Tembec supports sustainablity

May 7, 2013, Montreal, Que. – Tembec supports the Guidelines for Sustainable Paper Products, helping the paper products industry take practical steps toward sustainability.

The Guidelines for Sustainable Paper Products is a joint effort of GreenBlue, a non-profit organization that equips business with the resources to make products more sustainable, and its Forest Products Working Group, made up of 10 companies including Tembec. They provide common definitions of sustainable paper products, and outline what sustainability means for the paper products industry.

Envisioning a paper products industry in which products are designed to be safe and healthy for individuals and communities; the Guidelines provide information for companies  to evaluate the sustainability of their operations, identify opportunities for profitable improvement, and integrate life cycle thinking and sustainable criteria into business strategies.

The Guidelines will evolve over time, and Tembec will continue contributing to GreenBlue's Forest Products Working Group, whose other members are: Avery Dennison, Avon Products, Bank of America, Catalyst Paper, Domtar, HAVI Global Solutions, RR Donnelley, Sappi Fine Paper North America, and Staples.
