Irving to open sawmill in Maine

Aug. 26, 2013, Ashland, Maine - J.D. Irving will invest $30 million in a new softwood sawmill in Ashland, Maine. The sawmill will include biomass boilers, dry kilns and a planer mill and it will employ 60 people when it opens in late Spring of 2014.
Lumber produced at the mill will be certified under the Forest Stewardship (FSC) Council or the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) programs.
