May 30, 2014, Sussex, N.B. – J.D. Irving has received $1,482,000 to make stronger seedlings in a seedling technology project in Sussex, New Brunswick.
The Irving tree nursery will use somatic embryogenesis to grow 4 million hardy seedlings annually. The first project of its kind in Canada, it is based on Irving's patented endophyte-enhanced seedling technology, which is designed to enhance the seedling's resistance against pests and fungi.
