The wife of Truck Loggers Association (TLA) past president Bill Moore has passed away.

Jan Moore passed away peacefully on Aug. 27, in Vancouver, at the age of 87.

Jan grew up in Port Moody as the only child of local storekeepers Doris and Harry Woodsworth. She earned a degree in pharmacy at the University of BC before marrying Jack Lasure of Anmore. Jan and Jack had two children, Graham and Tani, and then moved to the remote town of Winter Harbour, B.C., in 1964.

Later, Jan remarried to Bill Moore and together they started a blended family with her children and Bill’s three sons; Pat, Will, and Mike. Jan and Bill spent many years entertaining loggers, friends, musicians, and dignitaries from far and wide.

After Bill’s passing Jan spent the remainder of her years enjoying life with close friend David MacDonald.

She was known as the ultimate hostess, always quick witted and ready for some fun. Jan always loved music, the arts, travelling, playing cards, and socializing with friends and family.

Jan will be remembered and missed by all that she crossed paths with.

“If you ask me what I came into this life to do, I will tell you: I came to live out loud.”
