Logging debate continues in Revelstoke
June 22, 2015 – The City of Revelstoke continues to debate with B.C. forests minister Steve Thomson over a proposal for logging at Mount Macpherson.
June 22, 2015 By Andrew Macklin
According to a report from the Revelstoke Mountaineer, the City had sent minister Thomson a letter requesting that he be open for further consultation on the proposal before moving forward. Mount Macpherson is a popular destination for mountain biking and cross-country skiing, which local officials fear could be jeopardized by harvesting in the region.
However, the minister has responded by stating that consultation has been ongoing. Thomson also stated that he believes that the BCTS has demonstrated its ability to co-exist in high public use areas.
