Logging truck driver fatally struck by load in collision
Jan. 9, 2018 – A logging truck driver was killed en route near Fort St. James, B.C. on Dec. 29.
The driver was transporting a loaded logging truck when the driver's truck struck an empty log truck that had lost traction on a hill.
The driver’s vehicle went off the road. The impact resulted in the logs being moved forward and partially crushing the front cab, killing the driver.
Road conditions were reported to have been icy.
“Our condolences go out to the family, friends and co-workers of the deceased and our sympathies to all those affected by this incident,” BC Forest Safety said in a statement.
This was the tenth harvesting fatality of 2017.
No further details have been released.
The RCMP, Coroners Service, and WorkSafeBC are currently investigating.
