Mercer International reports Q2 gains, announces dividend
August 9, 2024 By CFI Staff
Mercer International reported a second-quarter 2024 Operating EBITDA of $30.4 million, marking a recovery from a negative $68.7 million in the same period last year.
Despite this improvement, the company posted a net loss of $67.6 million, influenced by a $34.3 million goodwill impairment related to the Torgau facility.
Revenues fell by six per cent to $499.4 million, driven by lower pulp and lumber sales. However, strong pulp markets bolstered cash flows, enabling Mercer to reduce borrowings by $45 million. The company also declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.075 per share.
