More than 300 wildfires burning across BC

As of July 18, there are 306 wildfires burning across B.C. Almost one-third of those fires are in the Kamloops region. There are also significant wildfires in the Prince George fire region and in southeastern B.C.

According to CBC News, more than 20 communities are under evacuation alerts. One fire near Ashcroft, B.C., is now 50 square kilometres and classified as “out of control.” The fire is just 8.5 kilometres south of the town of Ashcroft, and an evacuation alert has been issued for the municipality and the Ashcroft Indian Band.
