The government of Newfoundland and Labrador is helping the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry help fight forest fires in the province.
According to a government press release, two CL-415 water bombers and seven crew members have been sent to the Dryden, Ont., area for up to five days to help fight wildfires in the area. More than a dozen wildfires are currently burning in northwestern Ontario.
The request for assistance was administered through the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre’s Mutual Aid Resource Sharing (MARS) agreement.
