According a Chronicle Herald article, Ligni Bel has left in its wake several creditors, including a numbered company headed by Wayne Gosse who also helms Northern Pulp Nova Scotia Corp.
Ligni Bel Ltd. pulled the plug permanently on its Pictou County sawmill Aug. 2 after idling operations last November amid a shortage of wood supply.
The Northern Pulp affiliate is owed $4.9 million, more than the rest of the sawmill’s creditors combined.
Bob Bagdon, Northern Pulp’s human resources vice-president, said that the Abercrombie Point operation would like to buy the mill as a going concern.
“This business complements our existing business in Nova Scotia,” he said in an interview Wednesday.
