N.S. mill gets break on power rates
The Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board granted Pacific West Commercial Corp. a discount tariff for the former NewPage Port Hawkesbury operation.

The ruling, made late Thursday afternoon, will help the Vancouver company’s plan to close a deal today to acquire the paper mill.
“We certainly appreciate the Nova Scotia UARB and the other parties for dealing with our application expeditiously,” Pacific West spokesman Marc Dube told The Chronicle Herald.
“Based on the UARB decision, we are proceeding to close the transaction and, hopefully, that will be (Friday).”
Once the deal gets the go ahead, the mill could “start operating (Friday) night and be making paper by Monday or Tuesday,” Dube said.
