Omak mill to reopen this year
Aug. 26, 2013, Omak — Omak Wood Products, a softwood veneer manufacturer in Washington state, expects to reopen its plywood mill in Omak later this year. It will be manufacturing Douglas fir plywood. The mill has been closed since 2009.
The company hired about 40 laborers and specialized tradesmen to clean up and restore the equipment last month in the hopes of reopening soon. At full production, the mill could employ as many as 200 workers – it will reopen with 100 people to begin.
