Scientists worried logging released mercury
Sept. 16, 2016 - Email exchanges between Ontario environment ministry officials, obtained by Grassy Narrows First Nation, indicate the scientists were worried that logging upstream of the First Nation would release mercury into the already contaminated area.

The emails were made public as part of an ongoing court challenge by Grassy Narrows. The First Nation requested an environmental assessment of the potential impact of the 10-year logging plan in 2014, which was rejected by the ministry.
