Parks Canada plans to fight Mountain Pine Beetle
Aug.31, 2016 - Parks Canada is panning an Alberta front in the fight against the Mountain Pine Beetle. This fall, staff at Jasper National Park will execute prescribed burns and use targeted single and multiple and patch tree removal.
A Mountain Pine Beetle Management Plan was released a few weeks ago, and states that the beetle has killed 1,568 hectares of pine trees, mostly mature lodgepole and western white pine.
